We have a new update regarding the Young Bucks‘ recent absence from AEW programming.
After The Elite lost the Blood and Guts match on the July 24 episode of Dynamite, the Young Bucks disappeared from AEW programming for two weeks. The EVPs returned to Dynamite earlier this week to defend the titles against The Acclaimed.
While it was initially reported that the reason for their absence was the new contracts Matthew and Nicholas signed last year had a lot more limited dates, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
In a new update from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, while their new contracts do call for fewer dates than before, that wasn’t the reason for their recent absence.
Meltzer states that the Young Bucks had been long scheduled to take time off following Blood and Guts. This was two-fold to not only sell their injuries but to be able to take a vacation with their families.
With their new contracts in mind, AEW was mindful to not eat up too many dates early in 2024. That way they can utilize them more in the second half of the year.
