Joe Hendry appeared again on WWE NXT, and he set his sights on the gold.
NXT Champion Ethan Page came to the ring on the August 13 episode of WWE NXT and hyped up his win at NXT Great American Bash. He said that no one could take the title from him, and NXT was now “N-X-Me”. Joe Hendry then interrupted the champion.
Hendry took some shots at Page, noting that his ego and reality weren’t lining up. Page told Hendry to go back to TNA and questioned why he was there. Hendry said that he was there to win the NXT Championship.
Page brought up how everyone believed in Hendry but said that he didn’t. Page told Hendry that his theme song made him sick. He also said that Hendry was on his fourteenth minute in his fifteen minutes of fame. Page then threatened to expose Hendry as the flash in the pan that he was.
Joe Hendry fired back by saying that he had been grinding for years. He stated that he had made believers out of Shawn Michaels, Booker T, and many more. He vowed to take the NXT Championship from Page. Hendry then started singing his theme song, and the fans joined in, prompting Page to angrily walk away.
Wes Lee then blindsided Hendry, and the former NXT North American Champion stood tall.
Joe Hendry has made several appearances on NXT programming in recent weeks. He is signed to TNA, but NXT and TNA have been working together.
