Seth Rollins is reportedly taking time off due to chronic injury issues.
Rollins has been dealing with injuries in recent months. In January, he suffered a torn MCL and partially torn meniscus. He returned to the ring in time for WWE WrestleMania 40, where he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Drew McIntyre.
Rollins then took some time off, as Becky Lynch said that he had surgery. He returned ahead of WWE Money in the Bank, where he challenged Damian Priest for the world title. Rollins remained involved on WWE programming heading into WWE SummerSlam, as he refereed the match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. On the August 5 episode of WWE RAW, Rollins was seemingly written off television when Bronson Reed brutally attacked him.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided an update. He noted that Rollins’ injury issues are “chronic,” but they are not at the point where they are getting “flagged.” However, Meltzer noted that Rollins will be “out for a while”, as he is taking time off to get ahead of the injuries.
Meltzer also wrote that Rollins is cleared, but he is trying to get in the best physical condition. He noted that he was not sure whether Rollins would be back for WWE Bash in Berlin.
As of this writing, there is no word on when Rollins will return to WWE television. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
