The Rock‘s latest movie has wrapped filming.
As previously announced, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to star as MMA fighter Mark Kerr in a biopic titled “The Smashing Machine.” He has been working on the film since he wrapped up his memorable WWE run following WrestleMania 40.
Melanie Goodfellow and Andreas Wiseman of Deadline report that The Rock’s “The Smashing Machine” movie has sold to distributors around the globe, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, China, and beyond. The report also notes that the film is set to wrap production in Japan this week. It is currently slated for a 2025 release in the United States.
Additionally, the shoot notes that The Rock took time away from filming in May to travel to Cannes for the Cannes Film Festival so he could discuss the movie with buyers.
“The Smashing Machine” stars Dwayne Johnson along with co-star Emily Blunt. The film is written, directed, and produced by Benny Safdie. The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions is attached to the film. Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia are among the producers.
As of this writing, there is no word on when The Rock will return to WWE. He teased a future match with Cody Rhodes on the RAW after WrestleMania. Rhodes has since openly talked about the possible showdown.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
