According to Triple H, WWE SummerSlam 2024 might have been the last one-night edition of the show.
With a two-night SummerSlam announced for 2026 and Indianapolis set to hold a two-night SummerSlam in the future, it has seemed like WWE is transitioning to a two-night version of the premium live event.
Speaking at the WWE SummerSlam post-show, Triple H was asked whether WWE SummerSlam 2024 would be the last one-night version of the event.
“Please let’s take it one step at a time [laughs]. Who knows what the future brings? But I do think that, even tonight, seeing this SummerSlam, seven-match card goes almost four hours, and yet there was a lot of stuff we could have put into this,” Triple H said. “Some people say, ‘Well, why wasn’t that in there?’ Well, because it would have been eight hours, and you still need stuff for Raw, you still need content for SmackDown. You still need all that stuff.
“As continue to grow, we’ll take it step by step. So is this is the last SummerSlam that you see that is one night? I think so, but we’ll see where that goes long-term. I’m excited about that opportunity.”
Triple H On Future Of WWE PLEs
Triple H also addressed the possibility of other premium live events becoming two-night shows. He noted that you could never fully lock into one way of doing something.
“As far as other PLEs going that way, you can never say this is just what we do, and then that’s it and that’s locked in, and that’s what we do,” Triple H said. “If you go back five years, who would have thought we would have been doing two-night WrestleManias? Let alone two-night WrestleManias and two-night SummerSlams. So we’ll see. We’ll see where it goes.
Triple H then brought up how WWE’s goal is to take the company around the world. He stated that they want WWE to be everywhere.
“That’s an important part of where we go with it, but an important part of where we go with that also is bringing these events around the globe,” Triple H said. “We are truly a global company. There is no place that WWE is not seen, there’s no place that we don’t have a massive fan base.
“We want to bring WWE to the world, not just be seen as a US-based company but that’s seen everywhere else. We want to literally be everywhere else and be as big as we possibly can be everywhere. So it’s always sort of a moving target, but makes for a hell of an exciting ride, so I’m excited.”
