The Bloodline has captured the gold.
In the main event of the August 2 episode of WWE SmackDown, The Bloodline (Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu) challenged #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Tonga and Fatu earned the title shot by winning a gauntlet match on the July 26 episode of SmackDown.
Ahead of the title match, Gargano cut a passionate promo about how he was fighting in his hometown to hype up the crowd. #DIY then fought valiantly, as they were overpowered throughout the bout, but they persevered. In the closing minutes, Tonga Loa distracted the referee, and Solo Sikoa interfered. Still, the champions kept fighting. Gargano rallied with some kicks, and he dove onto Tama at ringside.
However, The Bloodline was just too powerful. Fatu hit Gargano with a superkick, a Samoan drop, a moonsault, and an implant DDT for the win. In doing so, he and Tonga captured their first WWE titles.
Solo Sikoa then celebrated with the duo. The Bloodline ended WWE SmackDown standing tall. Solo Sikoa will aim to continue The Bloodline’s quest for gold at WWE SummerSlam. There, he will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa previously won the titles on the July 5 episode of WWE SmackDown. There, they beat Grayson Waller and Austin Theory.
