Ric Flair Reveals The Worst Injury He’s Had In The Ring

Ric Flair claims his worst injury in the ring was a cracked vertebra during a match with Dusty Rhodes.

The 16-time world champion is one of the most legendary wrestlers of all time. Famed for wrestling sixty-minute draws every night (and twice on Sundays), he was bound to suffer from injuries from time to time.

Ric Flair recently appeared on Bert Kreischer’s Something’s Burning on YouTube. The comedian asked Flair about the worst injury he ever received in the ring.

The Nature Boy revealed that he cracked his C5 and C6 vertebrae in a match with Dusty Rhodes once. Due to the technology at the time, he couldn’t get it fixed and simply had to just let it heal.

“Worst injury in the ring? In the ring… let me think. Probably when I cracked C5 and C6 in my neck. I didn’t know it till the next day. I did the flip and came diving off the top rope, right? We were in Raleigh, and Dusty caught me coming down and gave me a DDT. I fell on my neck.”

“The next day, I was doing incline presses, where you lean back, right? And I didn’t realize I had cracked C5 and C6. The technology wasn’t such then that you could go in and fix it, so it was like, ‘Here, heal yourself.’ My tricep and my lat kind of suffered. Boy, did that fucking hurt.”

Ric Flair Names His Favorite Current Wrestlers

While speaking to Joseph Acosta of SBNation, Ric Flair revealed the current wrestlers her prefers watching the most.

He named Randy Orton, AJ Styles and MJF among his favorites, although obviously picked his daughter Charlotte Flair as his number one.

“Well, number one would be my daughter, of course. But Randy [Orton], AJ [Styles]. I mean I like a lot of guys, like MJF. It’s hard to pick out four or five guys, but I mean we got great, great talent in both companies. You know, it’s hard to say who’s the best but I have some favorites. The Young Bucks are just absolutely sensational. What a phenomenal match they gave Sting and Darby [Allin]. (Laughing) Darby is too much, man. Orange Cassidy is one of my favorites. I mean, all those guys are great, wonderful people,” Ric Flair said.
