Chris Jericho vs. Mistico Announced For CMLL 91st Anniversary Show

Chris Jericho is set to wrestle in a CMLL ring for the first time since 1995.

In a post on Twitter, CMLL shared a video in which AEW star Chris Jericho announced that he will face Mistico at CMLL’s 91st Anniversary show on September 13. This comes after Jericho made a surprise appearance at the CMLL event on June 28 and attacked Mistico.

Earlier in his career, Jericho wrestled in Mexico as Corazón de León for a few years before he moved to ECW and later WCW. During his time in CMLL, Jericho won the NWA World Middleweight Championship.

Jericho scored a big win on the July 10 episode of AEW Dynamite, as he defeated Samoa Joe via stoppage.

Chris Jericho on retirement

Jericho was a recent guest on McGuire on Wrestling. When asked if he’s ever thought about retirement or a cut-off point, Jericho said he’s not in a rush to call it quits, but he’ll know when to hang it up.

“I think I’ll know when it’s time,” Chris Jericho said. “I’m really enjoying what I’m doing and I’m still contributing at a high level. I can still have the best match on the show on any given night, not every night, but any given night. And I just really love what we’re doing with AEW right now. So there’s really no rush on that.

“And when I know I’ll know, and I think that’s kind of the best way to put it. For right now, I’m having too much fun and enjoying it, and really enjoying building AEW, just five years in, we’ve already have gone so far, and have so much further to go on the highest of levels. So from that standpoint, we’ll see. As of right now, as long as I’m having fun, and enjoying myself and feeling good in the ring, and out there’s no reason to stop.”
