An Olympic gold medalist is set to make her televised in-ring debut soon.
According to fans in attendance, Tamyra Mensah-Stock competed at the NXT Level Up taping ahead of NXT on July 2. She wrestled as Tyra Mae Steele and faced Wren Sinclair at the tapings. This will mark Mensah-Stock’s first televised match. She has competed at a few NXT live events in recent months; she had her first match at the live event on March 30.
Corey Brennan of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that Mensah-Stock has been impressing many in NXT with how quickly she has taken to pro wrestling, and she initially was not expected on television so soon.
In 2021, Mensah-Stock became the first Back female athlete to earn a gold medal. Mensah-Stock also won a bronze medal at the 2021 World Championships. She won a second world title in 2022. She signed with WWE in May 2023, becoming the third Olympic wrestling gold medalist to ever sign a WWE contract.
As of this writing, there is no word on when Mensah-Stock will debut om WWE TV. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
