WWE Signs Olympic Gold Medalist Tamyra Mensah-Stock

WWE has now signed its third Olympic Gold Medalist, Tamyra Mensah-Stock.

Marc Raimondi of ESPN is reporting that WWE has signed Olympic Gold Medalist wrestler Tamyra Mensah-Stock who informed him of the signing on Tuesday.

Mensah-Stock won the gold medal in the women’s wrestling freestyle category at the Tokyo Olympics 2021 and is the first Black woman ever to accomplish such a feat.

Triple H has had his eyes on Mensah-Stock for a while, tweeting her back in 2021 to let her know that the door to WWE was always open to her if she wanted to pursue it.

But Mensah-Stock was intent on sticking in amateur wrestling for the time being after coming in third place in the 2021 world championships. She later accomplished her goal of winning the world championship in 2022.

“I didn’t want to end my career on that note,” Tamyra Mensah-Stock said. “So I did another world championships, I wiped the floor with everybody, and I was like, ‘Man, this is not fun anymore. I need a change.’ Something in the back of my head that’s just been itching at me, a dream of mine for I don’t know how long. I just wanted to be in the WWE.”

Mensah-Stock reported to the WWE Performance Center earlier this week with the goal of making it to the main roster within the next year.

“I love watching the athletes just in the ring, just going what they do best,” Tamyra Mensah-Stock said. “I just see their personalities just shine through the television, and I see their strength. Just everything about them resembles me, and I’ve just wanted to be a part of that.”
