Natalya reveals the secret behind her longevity in WWE.
The Canadian star has spent twenty years in the wrestling business, seventeen of them in WWE. During this time, she has held multiple World Championship belts, wrestled in huge pay-per-view matches, and helped to change women’s wrestling forever.
Many have marveled at her impact on the business. TNA’s Jordynne Grace wants a “dream match” with Natalya. The Rock had some heart-warming words for her on Twitter following WrestleMania 40.
She has been a constant in the WWE for nearly two decades. Natalya has finally revealed how she managed to compete at the highest level for so long.
In response to a clip of Matt Morgan praising her, Natalya revealed the secret of her longevity in wrestling. She attributed her success to learning to build a foundation of knowledge in the Hart Dungeon. Natalya said that helped her to “survive anything”, but she needed the heart to reach it to the top.
The former WWE Women’s Champion wrote on Twitter:
“Nearly two decades, uninterrupted. When I was first learning all of this, in Stu Hart’s Dungeon, I learned to build a foundation that would help me survive anything. That’s what I try to pass on to others so they can have that same longevity— IF their heart is in it.”
Natalya: I’m Just Getting Started
Despite being two decades into a legendary career, Natalya shows no signs of giving up.
She recently spoke with Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone, and revealed she is “just getting started”, and has lots more to achieve in the WWE.
“It’s funny, this morning I was talking to AJ Styles and I said to him, ‘You’re looking in the best shape of your life.’ I saw Randy Orton the other day, and Randy looks like he’s in the best shape of his life. We’re just getting started! I think because we’ve been in the industry, people like myself and Rey Mysterio — I don’t want to put myself in their category, because I am a humble person. But you’ve got to give yourself credit for having that kind of longevity.
“And I was saying to AJ, ‘You just look better than you’ve ever looked before’, and I feel for me, I feel like I’m just getting started. There’s so many things that I want to do. So many women I want to compete against. So many titles that I haven’t won. I’ve never main evented a WrestleMania, I would love to be able to do that, and I’d love to continue to give back to women’s wrestling. I think it’s important to strive for that, to have goals and dreams. I have so many.”
