Anthony Bowens hopes to use his platform to continue creating opportunities for others in the LGBTQ community.
On Monday, Bowens was named Pride.com’s 2024 Grand Marshal. He commented on the milestone, writing the following on Twitter:
I’m extremely honored to be named 2024 http://pride.com Grand Marshal! Every week I take pride in representing the LGBTQ community to the best of my ability in hopes that I can continue to open doors for the athletes of the future,” Bowens wrote on Twitter.
The outlet also did a long-form feature on the AEW star. He told Rachel Shatto about the welcoming atmosphere in AEW for the LGBTQ community and why it attracted him.
“I feel extremely welcome. That was actually one of the drawing points of coming to All Elite Wrestling [AEW], back in 2020, when I was trying to choose between two companies,” Bowens recalls to PRIDE. “It was how welcoming the locker room was and how free the performers were, because AEW had the first ever trans woman to win a major national title named Nyla Rose, and they had Sonny Kiss, and both were just walking around being themselves and there was no issues. It was just we’re all one big family, it didn’t matter who you were. And I thought that was so impressive.”
