Cody Rhodes is in the middle of his reign as Undisputed WWE Champion. But despite ending Roman Reign‘s legendary run, Rhodes doesn’t want to compare the two.
WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes was a recent guest on The Babyfaces Podcast. When asked how he views his current title run compared to the likes of Roman Reigns, Rhodes said that even if his moment at WrestleMania 40 were the peak of his current title run, it would still be an incredible one for him personally. Despite that, Rhodes believes it’ll just get better from here.
“A big thing for me was I wanted the matches to reflect a different time for the title,” Cody Rhodes said. “I don’t know if the Logan [Paul] one checked that box necessarily, but I can tell you the first AJ [Styles] match certainly did in terms of what myself as champion would look like. I think a thing to avoid, a pitfall, is to make comparisons to what Roman [Reigns] did because it was such a unique time.
“Roman carrying WWE through COVID and having the titles for so many years and all that. For me, it’s all about making it my own thing. And the reality is if WrestleMania 40 was the peak, then it was a really incredible peak. But I have a good tendency to see where the puck is going in the industry. I think it only gets better from here.”
Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against AJ Styles in an I Quit match next weekend at WWE Battleground.
