Christian Cage in AEW has resonated with many fans, including famous guitarists.
Despite retiring from wrestling in 2014, Christian Cage signed with AEW in February 2021. This was after an appearance in the Royal Rumble for WWE, although he did not agree a new contract with the promotion.
Despite starting out as a babyface, Christian soon turned into the most dastardly heel in wrestling. He targets wrestlers with deceased or absent fathers, which includes his friend of 40-years, Adam Copeland.
This came to a head with a series of matches over the TNT Championship. However, the most shocking part of the feud was when Copeland tried to Cage to team with him again. The pair embraced in the ring, before Christian Cage loudly declared “Go Fuck Yourself“.
This clip went viral beyond the world of wrestling and into the world of music. Christian Cage spoke with Chris Van Vliet recently, revealing how Tool guitarist Adam Jones told him to “go fuck yourself” backstage at a concert.
“I expected it to be big. I don’t know if I expected it to be as viral as it was. You know, it went beyond wrestling. I was at a Tool concert, and I went into the soundcheck. The guitarist, Adam Jones, was whispering to his security guy, who knew I was there. He pointed over to me and, while getting ready for his big show, looked at me and said, ‘Go fuck yourself’ from the stage. So, I mean, yeah, it resonated with people.”
