Darby Allin Shows Off Facial Injuries After Thumbtack Spot At AEW Double Or Nothing

Darby Allin is still feeling the effects of the Anarchy In The Arena match.

Allin made his return to the ring at AEW Double Or Nothing in the Anarchy In The Arena match. Allin wore a face shield during the match to protect his broken nose, which occurred after he was hit by a bus in New York City earlier this month.

The Elite removed the mask midway through the match, and Allin took several shots to the face, including Kazuchika Okada and the Young Bucks stringing him up by his feet and superkicking him in the head with Reebok Pumps covered in thumbtacks.

On Monday morning, Allin showed off his wounds, highlighting where some of the tacks pierced the bridge of his nose.

“Let’s see what happens”

WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard spoke with Darby Allin ahead of AEW Double Or Nothing about his status. Allin made the decision to head back to Washington for the Dynamite taping in Everett on May 15 once he heard about Eddie Kingston’s injury, but there was still the matter of getting himself cleared.

“I said I will do anything to see if I can get cleared. But right then and there, I just start driving back to Seattle because Dynamite was happening that Wednesday. So I do a 12 hour drive to Seattle. [I’m] so tired, trying to get clearance as I’m heading there,” Allin explained. “Literally, I’m in a boot, a walking boot, as I’m driving still. Me taking the walking boot off as soon as I get to the building was the first time I’d taken the boot off since the injury. I put my foot in a shoe for the first time and it was like, ‘Whoa! Alright, let’s see what happens.’ And I literally got clearance right before that Dynamite.”

Darby Allin wasn’t sure how being back in the ring would feel. He also noted how being cleared doesn’t mean he’s 100% better, noting how his nose was in bad shape before returning to TV.

“My foot is still so swollen. My nose still feels like insane,” Allin explained. “For a while, [doctors] told me that my nose was like Jello. If you touch it [in the wrong spot], it will just explode.”
