Will Ospreay Is Putting His Name In Race For AEW Championship

Despite becoming AEW International Champion, Will Ospreay still wants to become the world champion in AEW.

The English wrestler defeated Roderick Strong in the opening match at AEW Double Or Nothing. It marked his first title win in AEW. Ospreay fought off attacks from Matt Taven, Mike Bennett and Wardlow to take home the gold.

However, Ospreay does not want to stop there. With AEW bringing All-In back to Wembley Stadium in August, the Aerial Assassin wants to bring home the gold in his hoe country. He will have to go through the Owen Hart Cup to do so.

Will Ospreay spoke at the AEW Double or Nothing 2024 post-show media scrum. He was asked about whether he would be entering the Owen Hart Cup. This is given the news that the winner would earn a world title shot at All In at Wembley Stadium.

The Englishman revealed that he is not content with just one title. With his impressive win-loss record, he still wants to challenge for the world title, and wants to enter the tournament.

“This is my thing as well because a lot of people will see me just with this championship and think that this is just my main prerogative. While I do say that, and I said this backstage as well. I have no problem showing everybody that I can hold the door shut in one hand and carry the weight of the world in the other. So, you guys can take that how you want it. But my whole thing is, I’ve come in here. How can you argue with this win-loss record that I’ve got going on? So, for me now, if there’s an opportunity for that world championship, I will put my name in that race, mate.”

Last year, Will Ospreay defeated Chris Jericho at All In in Wembley Stadium.
