Chris Jericho had to get stitches in his head following AEW Dynamite this week.
The former AEW Champion was attacked by HOOK on Wednesday, after the latter’s victory over Sebastian Wolfe. He was quickly interrupted by “The Learning Tree”, who taught him a lesson about being less selfish. This was to an angry crowd’s chorus of “please retire” chants.
Jericho booked HOOK in a qualifying match on AEW Collision. He made the stipulation that if HOOK wins, he gets another shot at the FTW Championship. HOOK then hit Jericho in the head with a microphone. That descended into a beat down also involving Big Bill and Katsuyori Shibata.
However, Chris Jericho did not come out of the encounter unscathed. The FTW Champion posted a picture to his Facebook page after the show. It showed him being worked on by an AEW doctor, with a bloodied hand raised to the camera, as Jericho smiled.
The former WWE Champion captioned this photo, revealing he had stitches in the back of his head from the assault. Chris Jericho also noted that Hook needs to be “a lot meaner” if he wants another shot at Le Champion, leading into Double or Nothing 2024.
In the Facebook post, Chris Jericho wrote:
“Getting stitches in the back of my head after #AEWDynamite thanks to @730hook….and I’m ok with it!! You’re figuring out that you’re gonna have to get a lot meaner #Hook, if you wanna a shot at the #ForTheWorld title! Another lesson taught by #TheLearningTree! Thanks guys! #BloodyHand“
While no match has been announced yet, Chris Jericho vs. HOOK for the FTW Championship is expected to take place at AEW Double or Nothing 2024.
