Drew McIntyre Asserts That He Alone Is ‘Setting The Bar’ On WWE Raw

Much like Sheamus and Cesaro previously, Drew McIntyre believes he is “the bar” of WWE Raw.

Recent months have seen the beloved, mild-mannered Drew McIntyre gradually transform into a more aggressive, and trollish version of himself. Through this character change, McIntyre has catapulted himself back into the main event scene, where he briefly held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Even without the title, though, McIntyre asserts that he has elevated all of the fellow competitors surrounding him.

“Seth Rollins – took himself beyond the limit against me,” McIntyre wrote on Twitter. “Jey Uso – Had to use more than 2 moves against me. CM Punk – Is showing he ain’t washed (he is) against me. Damian Priest – Finally proved he has some chops… against me.”

“I’m the one setting the bar on Raw,” McIntyre continued. “I’m bringing out the best in others. The Champion without my championship. Stop me when I’m telling lies.”

As McIntyre alluded to, all of the aforementioned men have had notable run-ins with him this year. Perhaps the most pivotal, though, was that of CM Punk, who continues to clap back at McIntyre’s taunting as he recovers from a torn triceps. Punk’s counterattack reached a dramatic peak on night two of WrestleMania 40 as McIntyre dethroned Seth Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

In the moments following his win, McIntyre smugly approached Punk, who was seated at the commentary desk, with his new title. Unfortunately for McIntyre, his post-match celebration came to an abrupt end when Punk proceeded to beat him with his arm brace. This move ultimately allowed an opportune Damian Priest to successfully cash-in his Money in the Bank briefcase to become the brand-new World Heavyweight Champion.
