On the May 8 episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland came to the ring for a confrontation with his number one contender, Christian Cage. They went back and forth, and Cage threatened to attack Strickland. Swerve said that he did not come alone, and his Mogul Embassy stablemates Brian Cage and the Gates of Agony arrived.
However, the trio blindsided Strickland and attacked him. Bishop Kaun and Toa Lioa punctuated the beat-down with a slam through the broadcast table.
Christian Cage then walked to the back and met up with EVPs The Young Bucks. They shook hands, and Cage said it was the start of a fruitful working relationship.
