Jinder Mahal On His Post-WWE Mindset: I Get A Chance To Be Myself

Jinder Mahal looks toward the future.

On April 19, reports indicated that several WWE Superstars had been released from their contracts. One of the names affected by this move was former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, who, in total, spent 12 years with the company. Following his departure from WWE, Mahal was asked what his mindset looks like as he now moves beyond WWE. In response, Mahal noted that he is looking forward to showing the world a new side of him.

“Gratitude for all of life experiences, but at the same time positive and optimistic for the future,” Mahal said in a new TikTok video (via Twitter). “I’ve learned that good things in life don’t happen with a negative mind frame. So I’m excited for new opportunities both in and outside of wrestling. I get a chance to be myself, a chance to show something new, a chance to grow. So overall, this is a positive. For the past two years, I’ve been pretty stagnant and not really growing as a person or a performer. So I’m viewing this as a very, positive change.”

In his two runs with WWE (2010-2014; 2016-2024), Mahal notably captured the United States and WWE Championship. Over the last two years, however, Mahal’s on-screen presence wavered dramatically as he managed Indus Sher while also trying to reestablish himself as a singles competitor.

Mahal’s last WWE appearance occurred on the April 5 episode of WWE SmackDown, where he, and 23 other men, competed in the 2024 Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
