CM Punk had the last laugh at WrestleMania 40.
The former AEW Champion was on commentary for the opening match on the second night. He was there to watch Drew McIntyre face Seth Rollins, with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line.
The Scot won the match, pinning Rollins after a fifth Claymore Kick to win his first world title in front of the fans.
However, his gloating to Punk came back to bite him, as Damian Priest cashed in the Money in the Bank contract to steal the belt, and leave McIntyre championship-less walking out of the stadium.
CM Punk was one of the first people to gloat on social media about the result. After the match, he posted a photo on Instagram, showing himself crudely photoshopped to standing over a grave, with McIntyre’s head on the gravestone.
This is a direct response to a similar post made by McIntyre after Punk suffered an injury at the Royal Rumble. This was later made into a t-shirt and put on sale by WWE.

CM Punk is not the only person who was active on social media at WrestleMania.
Drew McIntyre took to Twitter during his match against Seth Rollins, making a hilarious post that impressed the fans.
After leaving Rollins on the ground, he rolled out of the ring to his partner at ringside. He took his mobile phone, before sending out the Tweet “Bored at work. LOL”, making light of his bout against the World Champion.
