WWE WrestleMania 40 Night One was a record-breaking success, according to Triple H.
During WrestleMania 40 Night One, WWE announced that 72,543 fans were in attendance at Lincoln Financial Field.
At the WWE WrestleMania 40 Post-Show Press Conference, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H stated that WrestleMania 40 Night One broke WWE’s all-time single-night gate record.
“We broke our all-time single night gate record here tonight. Thar is something that Nick and I and the team spend a lot of time poring through, is how to increase that but yet still remain in that zone where anybody can come to a show. We’re not pricing out fans out of the market. We are very conscious of making sure that everybody out there can enjoy WWE. That’s important to us. It’s not just all about the money and the numbers. It’s about making sure everybody can take part. 75,542 in attendance tonight. Amazing night for us.
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics noted that the record had been held by WrestleMania 32 ($17.3 million). This number would mark the highest gate in pro wrestling history, per Thurston, but Triple H did not provide a specific figure.
Both the WrestleMania week editions of RAW and SmackDown set records as well. The April 1 edition of RAW was the highest-grossing WWE TV event, while the April 5 episode of SmackDown was the highest-grossing taping in the history of the show.
