Mark Briscoe Shares Emotional Message About Jay Briscoe After ROH World Title Win

Mark Briscoe won the ROH World Championship for the first time at RPH Supercard of Honor. He beat Eddie Kingston to win the gold eleven years to the day that his late brother, Jay Briscoe, captured the title. Jay tragically passed away in a car accident in January 2023, and Mark has continued to wrestle to honor him.

At the post-show media scrum, Mark Briscoe was asked to describe what it meant to have the support of his family and friends, especially in a moment like that.

“I mean, there are no words,” Mark Briscoe said. “I feel like I’ve said this more times than I can count over the last couple weeks when people ask me about this match and just this whole situation and the circumstances and everything coming together like they did.

“There are no words, man. I can’t even express how much it means to have such a supportive family and my friends,” Mark Briscoe said. “In the midst of tragedy, we need each other. I don’t think that we would be able to be functioning on the level that we are, any of us, without the whole group. So it’s huge. It means everything.”

Mark Briscoe On Winning The Title

Mark Briscoe was then asked to discuss what sharing that moment with Eddie Kingston, someone he had known for a long time, had meant to him.

“It couldn’t be…of the multiple different circumstances that made tonight so special for me, for me, the date, eleven years to the day that my brother won his first Ring of Honor Title,” he said. “Number two, the location, here we are in Philly, where we cut our teeth in the wrestling business. Number three, my opponent, Eddie Kingston, we’ve known each other for going on two decades now, and there’s never been any bad blood, anything but good vibes.

“But that don’t mean you ain’t gonna beat the piss out of each other [laughs], so I couldn’t have asked for a better opponent. It’s just unreal how everything panned out and played out. I thank my brother Tony [Khan] for making it happen. You don’t know how much I appreciate you, man.”

Mark Briscoe’s Message To Jay Briscoe

During the scrum, Mark Briscoe was also asked what he would say to his brother, Jay Briscoe, if he could.

“I love you, dog. [Gets emotional] There’s no words, man. It’s just too many coincidences for it to be a coincidence. I wear my faith on my sleeve, and God is good, man,” he said. “Stuff like this, the tragedy that happened, you don’t want to go on, you don’t want to get out of bed…and then nights like tonight…this is what helps you move on. [Cries] It’s not easy.

“But nights like tonight make it a whole hell of a lot easier. I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but there are no words. I love you dog, be with me. Until we meet again, just trying to do him proud, man.”
