Timothy Thatcher is one of the more popular wrestlers in the independent scene. Fans tend to talk about him on social media. Unfortunately, Thatcher does not know what the fans are saying about him online as he does not have a social media account.
Recently, while speaking to Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone, Timothy Thatcher shared the reason why he prefers to stay off social media. Thatcher also shared the running joke about him that if anyone wants to book Timothy Thatcher, they will need to fax him.
“A man I once knew always used to make the joke as, ‘If you want to book Tim Thatcher, you send this man a fax, and in two to three business days, he’ll get back to you.’ Or the carrier pigeon, you got to throw it out and hope it lands somewhere around Sacramento. All this stuff… Yeah, I’ve had success in spite of my own decisions. Which is… I’m very grateful that it’s worked out that way.”
Thatcher claimed that one of the main reasons to stay off the grid is to maintain his sanity.
“But I did it for… I do it this way for my own sanity. And thankfully, I’ve built enough of a reputation that… I started wrestling before all this stuff was important. So at least I built up enough of a reputation and stuff before all of the social media became that… It… If people want me to work for them, then they find a way. Which I am very grateful for. It’s a wonderful editing process too. Because then I only work for companies that I want to work for.”
Timothy Thatcher prefers to live a simple life
While speaking in the same interview, Thatcher mentioned that he cannot let everyone have an easy and direct way to contact him.
“I think it’s mind-boggling. I don’t know how anyone does it that everyone has direct contact with you. How insane is that anyone anywhere can all of a sudden can provide you whatever idea is in their head at the time. So, yeah, wild. But, yeah, I do try to live a simple life outside. I believe people’s imagination is much more entertaining than reality ever will be. So if they can come up with great things, that ends up helping me as well.
“But, I’m very grateful that, as I said right, I’ve had a good reputation and I’ve had some wonderful people look out for me. And so, if people really want me to work for them, they’ll find me. MLW has always been able to find me. Like I said I worked for them in 2019 and a lot of time passed and they were able to find [me] again.”
Thatcher also mentioned it’s good to distance yourself from social media and everything else.
“Yeah you have to [distance yourself from social media and everything else]. I think as human beings, it’s too difficult. If you have all this stuff coming at you all the time, oof it makes a very uneasy feeling. It’s a rough life. You got to have moments to [stay away from the digital world],” Timothy Thatcher said.
Do you agree with Thatcher? Do you think it would be good to stay away from social media?
