Ever since signing with the Tony Khan-led promotion, Swerve Strickland has been one of the pillars of the promotion. While he may have been playing the heel for the majority of his AEW run, it is safe to say that the leader of the Mogul Affiliates is one of the fan-favorite heels.
Recently, the former AEW World Tag Team Champion revealed that he takes advice from a former colleague of his, the Wise Man of Roman Reigns and the Bloodline, Paul Heyman.
Paul Heyman is considered to be a master of the art. The Wise Man has been part of the creative team, he even ran a wrestling promotion on his own, ECW. Heyman may have been only seen helping and giving advice to one person or one faction on screen, such as Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, and the latest addition to that list, The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. But he has helped a lot more behind the scenes. Many wrestlers have given Heyman credit for helping them in making their characters better.
Recently, while speaking on his Swerve City podcast, Swerve Strickland was discussing his rise in AEW. He also was talking about his latest feud with Hangman Adam Page. While doing so, Strickland revealed that he is still in touch with Heyman and gets advice from him for his promos and other segments.
“Little do people know, I still talk to Paul Heyman,” Strickland said. “Just on a mentorship type state. I go to him for advice on like my promos and my segments that like … when I was doing the home invasion segments and all this stuff, I was like ‘how did this make you feel?’ I would get reception back from him.” [H/T Wrestling Inc.]
