Kofi Kingston has love for one of Marc Mero’s theme songs.
Kingston was discussing great theme songs at Royal Rumble media day, and he mentioned “Wildman” Marc Mero being one of those names.
During his time in the company, Mero had the “Wild Cat” theme song, as well as “Rough Rock” from his more “Marvelous” days in WWE. So… what does Kingston enjoy most about the latter?
“Bro, it’s the best. It almost sounds like [you might say], ‘Oh, that’s ‘Generic Song A.’ Like no, that song, it bumps, dude,” Kofi Kingston explained to WrestleZone. “Just riffing on the guitar and then the breakdown. I loved his music. Love it, it’s so underrated.”
Big Meaty Men
Kofi also spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard about the pitch for a “Big Meaty Men Invitational.” Kingston said he wouldn’t put himself in the lineup, noting how he recently bulked up but ended up cutting weight. However, there are some well-deserving names that would make the cut, if WWE sanctions the match.
“Oh, no. So, I actually tried to bulk up a little bit this year. I gained about 17 pounds, got to a point where, ‘Eh, no, no, no,’ and cut back down. If I’m in there, it ruins the legitimacy of the tournament. So what would probably happen is Big E would have to go around and approve every person that’s going to be in there,” Kofi explained.
“I’m okay with the fact that this is not the meat people are looking for. I’m skin and bones. This is a full sternum. No pec meat whatsoever. But you have a lot more meaty men that deserve to be in that tournament. Like you said, it may not happen at WrestleMania this year, but let’s build it,” Kofi added. “We’ve got a lot of meat out there between Otis over there. You have Oba Femi. You’ve got Omos, of course, Big E, Bronson Reed. So many meaty men, Ivar. A lot of meat on the roster right now. A lot of meat.”
