A new report provides an update on the changes fans have noticed in WWE programming lately.
Kevin Dunn wrapped up with WWE at the end of 2023, and the company has already made some changes. In recent weeks, two videos on RAW and SmackDown have stood out in particular. On RAW, Chelsea Green and Piper Niven confronted Katana Chance and Kayden Carter at a nightclub. On the January 12 episode of SmackDown, Butch and Pete Dunne got coffee together.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that those who compared the segments to NXT were correct, as sources noted that Triple H has allowed Jeremy Borash to put together a team in NXT in recent years, and Dunn’s exit opened the door for featuring these types of promos on the main roster. Per Sapp, Triple H was happy with how the promos played out, and the segments were positively received internally.
Sapp also cites sources who were associated with putting the promos together, and they spoke highly of the new process, as well as the freedom that comes with it. One source notes that the new approach was to let the characters breathe and for the segment to play out.
