Skye Blue is one of the rising stars in All Elite Wrestling. She recently joined forces with current TBS Champion Julia Hart.
Blue appeared on Chris Jericho’s Talk is Jericho podcast. During the episode, Skye Blue opened up about wrestling Saraya for the first time. Blue was not only nervous but at the same time she had staples on her head following an incident in the independent wrestling scene.
“I was so nervous about the first one [wrestling Saraya], I could not believe I was actually wrestling her. I remember being in the ring and her music hit and I was like, ‘Oh yeah. This is happening. Terrified, but this is happening.’”
Blue also shared how she got busted open while wrestling a match in Lucha Libre.
“I had staples in my head at that time. Oh god! I love this story [about how she got staples]. They got pretty mad at me. I was doing an Indy Show. And I was wrestling one of the kids that I trained with for… It was a Lucha show. And they were like, ‘Oh they needed him to win.’ I was like, ‘Okay. I’ll get myself disqualified.’ Because I couldn’t lose at the time. And he was like, ‘Oh we’ll do a chair spot You get disqualified and it will be fine.’ I was like, ‘Yeah okay.’
Skye Blue got busted open because of a ‘Crap Lucha show steel chair’
The AEW star mentioned that the steel chair used in to hit her was a low-grade chair that has an iron rod in the back. The rod hit her on the head and instantly busted her open.
“I did a Hardcore match with this dude before so I felt comfortable with him. And I was like, ‘Just “Sabu” the chair [throwing the chair straight to the face] at me like you did before and we’ll be fine.’ He forgot to palm the chair so the chair spiraled in the air and it was not like the nice chairs that we have, it was one of those really crap Lucha show chairs where they have the metal bar on the back. And I just turned my head, I didn’t think, and it caught me right at the side of my head. I didn’t know I was bleeding. Because I just fell down. We still had a couple more things we had to do. And I got up and I flipped my hair and my back was just wet. I was like, ‘What the hell?’ I look down and it was just a pool [of blood]. And I was just like, ‘Oh! This is cool.”
Blue also followed up stating that they were unable to identify the exact location of the cut due to her hair. So, she was instantly rushed to the hospital.
