PJ Black took part in the first season of WWE NXT on SyFy long before it became the brand we know today.
Former WWE Superstar PJ Black (FKA Justin Gabriel) recently sat down with Steve Fall of WrestlingNews.co. When asked about competing in the first season of NXT, Black revealed the original plan was for them all to live in a house together like UFC’s Ultimate Fighter.
“The original plan was for us to live in a house like Ultimate Fighter and actually compete and do actual athletic challenges,” PJ Black revealed. “But as the wrestling business goes, time ran out, and on the day, they were like, ‘Let’s write a show,’ and then they were like, ‘We don’t even have time to write a show,’ so we freestyle pretty much everything. That’s why the matches and the promos were kind of off because it was pretty much all on the fly.”
