A new report provides an update on Mercedes Moné.
Mercedes Moné is a free agent, and she has been out of action with an ankle injury since May. She appeared in the crowd at AEW All In, and she resumed in-ring training in November.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that, when Moné appeared at AEW All In, there was a tentative plan for her to work with the company once she returned. However, Sapp writes that sources said at the beginning of December that these plans were no longer active. Additionally, it was noted that the two sides are far apart on terms.
However, it is important to note that this does not mean the door is closed. There is no word on whether she was ever set to debut. Buzz about Moné coming to AEW picked up around AEW Grand Slam, but Sapp writes that AEW shut that down, as they did not want to have her appear again while she was still injured.
Update On Mercedes Moné And WWE
NJPW’s Rocky Romero has said he was hopeful Moné could resume talks with NJPW/STARDOM, and NJPW wanted her back. Sapp also clarified that Moné is not signed to NJPW, and there is no word on potential talks between her and WWE. He wrote that WWE plans to renew talks with multiple free agents after the new year begins, but it is not known whether Moné is one of them. Sapp also dismissed rumors that WWE creative was told to come up with ideas for Moné’s return.
Additionally, Sapp writes that WWE has previously indicated interest in bringing Moné back, but that is not new. It is also important to note that the update on her standing with AEW does not inherently mean she will return to WWE.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
