Athena is confident that she will be able to deliver at ROH Final Battle.
At ROH Final Battle on December 15, ROH Women’s Champion Athena will headline the show. In the main event, she will defend her title against Billie Starkz. Athena previously main-evented ROH Death Before Dishonor 2023, where she defended the gold against Willow Nightingale.
Speaking with Joe Hulbert for WrestlePurists, Athena was asked about main-eventing ROH Final Battle and whether headlining Death Before Dishonor helped her, or if there’s still a lot of pressure this time.
“I think it’s a bit of both because as much as I’m like, ‘Oh, no, I’m not worried about being the main event,’ the main event has to deliver. We are the headliners of the show. So yeah, the pressure is on to deliver not just once, but deliver even better than the first time.
“It’s a weird kind of feeling, especially with it being in my hometown, the place that I was born and raised and left very quickly [laughs]. So yeah, the pressure’s on. But I’m confident that I can deliver and that I can beat the tar out of Billie Starks. That’s all that really matters, right?”
