Bishamon have made history.
On December 10, Bishamon (Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI) won the NJPW World Tag League 2023 tournament. They defeated NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Champions El Phantasmo and Hikuleo in the tournament finals. This marks the third year in a row that Bishamon have won the tournament.
Goto and YOSHI-HASHI made history as the first IWGP Tag Team Champions to win the tournament. They also became the first team to win the tournament three times. With the win, Goto captured his fifth victory in the tournament; in doing so, he tied the record held by Antonio Inoki and Keiji Mutoh.
Following the match, Bishamon agreed to face El Phantasmo and Hikuleo at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 14. Both sets of tag team titles will be on the line in the match.
