Logan Paul defeated Rey Mysterio at the Crown Jewel Premium Live Event to become the new United States Champion. This past Friday night on SmackDown, a tournament commenced to determine Paul’s first challenger. One of the stars in the tournament is Bobby Lashley.
Prior to his first-round match in the United States Title Tournament, the All-Mighty was interviewed by Mike D on The Hot Morning Show on Hot106.
During the interview, Bobby Lashley mentioned that he assured that he would run through the tournament and would take away the title from Logan Paul. The All-Mighty also claimed that he should be chasing the World title or the Undisputed Universal championship as none of the contestants in the tournament are not on his level.
“Ah don’t say that (Logan Paul is the WWE United States Champion) again. Don’t say that again. I mean… I’m doing this. I’ll beat Kross up and then.. Yeah. I’m thinking through this whole tournament. Look who’s in it. I mean, all due respect to those guys but none of them are at my level. I should just be able to go snatch that championship and run with it. Um… I should be going after Roman or Seth right now. But, you know what, for right now we’re just going to do this tournament and get another championship belt… I mean, I already have them. I have them all,” Bobby Lashley said.
Bobby Lashley wants the United States Title to return to being the Workhorse Title
During the same interview, Lashley also mentioned that the United States Championship is a workhorse title and needs to be on the waist of someone who can defend it every week. While saying so, he also gave Paul his props and appreciated the fact that The Maverick is doing everything in his power to be a full-time WWE Superstar.
“So… I mean it will be nice to just snatch it from him. Because, ultimately man we’re going to Live Events all the time and we want somebody at the Live Events that’s there with that title. And have somebody going after it. I understand it’s cool to take it in and do social media and all that… Run around and say you’re United States Champion. But that’s a Workhorse Title. The person that has that is a workhorse. Person that has that’s supposed to be at every show doing what he needs to do.
“Yeah, yeah. Let’s do it. It’s not a shot at him (Logan Paul). I mean, the matches he had were good matches. And he has respect for the business. You can see… Because he really wants to be here, I think he stepped away from boxing so that he can stay here more, full-time. But let’s see him. Let’s defend that thing on a regular basis. That’s what a champion is supposed to do. And we got Seth on the other side with that World Title, that’s having match after match every week it almost seems like. So let’s do the same with everything else. Gunther is putting in the work. Let’s put in the work like that also.”
Just like he said, the former WWE Champion defeated Karrion Kross in the first round and advanced to the Semi-finals of the tournament. In the next round, Bobby Lashley will be wrestling Santos Escobar.
