Seth Rollins has one regret about how he handled CM Punk’s return at WWE Survivor Series.
Rollins was a guest on the SI Media Podcast with Jimmy Traina. The pair discussed CM Punk’s return to WWE and Rollins’ publicized reaction to that moment. Rollins has made no bones about his feelings on Punk, referring to him as a cancer at one point.
Traina prefaced his question by noting that he didn’t want to insult anyone’s intelligence by asking if it was real or fake, but asked Rollins to describe his feelings in the moment.
“Everyone knows how I feel about CM Punk. I’ve not made it any more transparent over the last few years. Nothing has changed in that regard,” Rollins explained. “And in that moment, I was extremely emotional and you got a lot of real, raw emotion from me. I don’t usually get that worked up about much, but you caught me off guard and there was a lot of real emotion there. So, that’s probably as much as I can say on that without going too far.”
A moment in time
“You said a lot of bad words,” Traina replied.
“I did. I did. And I regret that part of it. Because I do take my responsibility as a role model for our younger audience pretty seriously,” Seth Rollins noted. “So that part of it, I do have regrets over it. I wish I would have handled myself with a little bit more composure. But like I said, I can’t take it back. I can apologize to our younger audience and their families if I offended anybody but it was what it was, a moment in time.”
Seth Rollins says he did not run into Punk backstage that night. He had his wife, Becky Lynch, and some other people there to keep him in check and talk him down. Rollins said Lynch is good at reading him and knowing how to level him out when he needs it.
“Kudos to her. She made sure I didn’t get in any trouble,” he added. “But yeah, there were enough people who knew that I would be upset in the moment and take care of me and make sure it didn’t get too chaotic.”
