Utami Hayashishita and Saya Kamitani captured the vacant Goddess Of Stardom Championships at Stardom‘s recent Nagoya Big Winter show.
After Saya neutralized Maika to remain ringside, Utami delivered a picture perfect German Suplex to Megan Bayne to secure the pinfall victory.
Utami and Saya, otherwise referred to as AphroditE, place themselves in history as only the second tag team in Stardom to win the Goddess Of Stardom belts twice. Their first tag title win dates back to July 2020. Hazuki and Koguma were the first two-time Goddess Of Stardom Champions when they won the titles for the second time in May 2022.
This match is also only Saya Kamitani’s second taste of in-ring action after suffering an injury during the opening night of this year’s 5 Star Grand Prix. She returned at Stardom’s recent Korakuen Hall show where her, Utami Hayashishita, and AZM went to a time limit draw against Megan Bayne, Suzu Suzuki, and Mei Seira.
First challengers set
The new champions looked to celebrate their win. However, OEDo Tai’s Natsuko Tora and Momo Watanabe walked down the ramp to set an immediate challenge. AphroditE willingly accepted the sudden challenge, and the title match is expected to be held at Stardom Dream Queendom 2023. The two teams have had quite the history with Queen’s Quest and OEDo Tai’s intense Cage Match earlier this year. Queen’s Quest ultimately won the match, forcing OEDo Tai to kick Saki Kashima out of their unit as the last competitor in the cage.
In a post-match interview, AphroditE spoke to media regarding their championship victory and future challenge. “I want AphroditE to become the number 1 tag team that everyone in the professional wrestling world recognizes,” Kamitani says. Hayashishita then discusses OEDo Tai’s challenge, “Natsuko Tora, Momo Watanabe. It seems like they can’t forget about us and the cage match. I’ll make it all black and white in this defense match for this belt.”
