Chris Sabin addresses why TNA’s six-sided ring is not returning.
IMPACT Wrestling sent shockwaves across the industry when the company announced at Bound For Glory in October that it will be reverting back to the TNA Wrestling branding in 2024. Since then, there’s been plenty of chatter about what may or may not return in its wake. Among those items that will not be returning is apparently the six-sided ring.
During a recent appearance on the Battleground Podcast, X-Division Champion Chris Sabin noted that there was never a serious discussion about bringing it back.
“I don’t think there was ever serious discussions about it, not any that I was involved in anyway,” Sabin said. “There might have been at that level, but I think the consensus was that it’s a little more dangerous ring. That could have been just the one that TNA used back in the day, because the bump was really, really hard. But apparently, it had to be that way because of how the six-sided ring is constructed. So I don’t think there’s any serious discussion. I think it’s cool, I think it’s different. But at the same time, I think the health and well-being of the performers has to come first before something like that.”
IMPACT Wrestling last used the six-sided ring in early 2018. The company switched back to the standard four-sided ring shortly after Scott D’Amore took over as Executive Vice President.
