AZM challenged Giulia for a shot at the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship at this past STARDOM Gold Rush show.
Following her victory over Suzu Suzuki and a returning Starlight Kid that night, AZM cut a post-match promo expressing her interest in wrestling in America. The “High Speed Bomb Girl” then added that she would need to hold the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship to achieve this goal, so she wasted no time in calling out the defending champion Giulia.
Giulia would then accept AZM’s challenge after her main event victory at Gold Rush’s Moneyball Tournament. The champion has also been quite vocal in demanding more determined challengers to face her. STARDOM. However, an official date has not been announced yet.
AZM and Giulia have also met in the ring in the past. At this year’s 5 Star Grand Prix Tournament, both women competed as players in the Blue Stars block. In their match, AZM pulled a massive upset victory over the champion in 55 seconds via the “Azumi Sushi” roll-up. While Giulia has shown an extensive background in the shoot style, she faces an unfamiliar challenge with AZM’s arsenal as a high speed wrestler with fast technical offense.
AZM is yet to hold a top singles championship in her wrestling career, but competing for one is not new to her. Just earlier this year at NJPW Sakura Genesis, she competed in a three way match against Hazuki and former champion Mercedes Moné for the IWGP Women’s Championship.
