MJF and Kenny Omega put on a show on Saturday, but in the end MJF walked out as the longest-reigning champion in AEW history.
In the main event of tonight’s episode of AEW Collision, MJF and Omega faced off in an AEW World Championship match. In a stellar bout between the two high-profile superstars, it was MJF who would eventually walk out with the win.
Things came to an end after MJF hit a second Panama Sunrise and then a Heatseeker on Omega to retain his title. With the win, MJF will undoubtedly become the longest-reigning AEW Champion of all time.
For a recap of how the match ended, check out below courtesy of our live, play-by-play coverage of AEW Collision:
Half way through the bout, Omega powerbombs MJF through a table outside the ring. MJF manages to land a poisonrana on Omega in return. In the closing minutes, Don Callis walks down the ramp to distract, but the ref ejects him out as Omega goes for One Winged Angel. MJF rolls him up out of it and they trade roll-ups.
MJF’s Heatseeker gets a nearfall. He isn’t able to get Panama Sunrise and Omega stacks on top for the closest nearfall yet. MJF connects with Panama Sunrise on the second attempt. He lands another Heatseeker and pins Omega to retain.
