Mark Briscoe made his return during the October 27 episode of AEW Rampage.
On Friday night, Kip Sabian came to the ring and insulted the Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Phillies, firing up the crowd in the process. Mark Briscoe cut him off and took the fight to him, somewhat defending Philadelphia in the process.
Briscoe had been absent since July, as he was out of action due to a knee injury that required surgery. He was expected to miss the rest of 2023, but the 13-time ROH World Tag Team Champion returned ahead of schedule. He was pulled from his scheduled match at ROH Death Before Dishonor due to the injury.
