Kofi Kingston and Ivar have reportedly impressed people backstage with their recent matches.
In recent weeks, Kofi Kingston has been feuding with Ivar. Erik, Ivar’s tag team partner, has been sidelined with an injury, so Ivar has received more opportunities in singles matches. Kingston faced Ivar in a singles match on the September 18 episode of WWE RAW, and the match got a good amount of time. They later clashed in a Viking Rules match on the October 9 episode of WWE RAW.
Per Sapp, their first match received plenty of praise. Sapp cited one producer who noted that Ivar particularly impressed many backstage, particularly considering that he hadn’t had a lengthy singles match on WWE TV in nearly five years.
In the report, Sapp wrote that subsequent matches garnered praise and led WWE to have an open-mind regarding using Ivar in singles action.
