Eddie Kingston Says He Is No Longer Working Independent Dates

Eddie Kingston announces that he’s no longer doing independent shows due to his other obligations.

On AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Eddie Kingston beat Claudio Castagnoli to win the ROH World Championship.

In a post on Instagram, Eddie Kingston wrote that he has to stop doing independent dates. He stated that he has a back injury that he needs to get fixed. Kingston also noted that he hopes he’ll be able to do independent shoes again once his responsibilities as the champion are over.

“Due to being NJPW STRONG Openweight and ROH Champion, I have come to the hard decision that I will have to stop doing independents,” Eddie Kingston wrote. “Dealing with a lower back injury right now that I will need to get fixed (and will) so I can be ready for all NJPW STRONG shows and all three AEW shows.

When my responsibilities as NJPW and ROH champion is over, I will hopefully be able to do independents again. I apologize to all but I just need to focus and my body needs to be ready for those shows.”

Kingston had been set to face Rocky Romero at DEFY Last King on September 23. He was also scheduled for a match with Bryan Keith at Warrior Wrestling’s event on October 6.

At AEW WrestleDream, Kingston will put both of his titles on the line against Katsuyori Shibata. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs on October 1.
