NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch faced Natalya on the September 18 episode of WWE RAW, but a different match was initially set for the show.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that the planned match was changed, as Becky Lynch had been set to face Tegan Nox, according to one version of the RAW script. Nox has not wrestled on WWE RAW since July 3.
Per Sapp, Lynch pushed for Nox to get the match on September 18. Sapp wrote that the match had been planned all day long, but the company decided to take a different direction about ten minutes before doors opened. The report also noted that Lynch and Nox already had laid out their match.
Natalya Switched Spots With Tegan Nox on WWE RAW
Sapp stated that the reason why Natalya received the spot was not made clear. Natalya had been set to compete on WWE Main Event, but WWE switched her with Nox. As previously reported, WWE higher-ups were pleased with the way Natalya stepped up at WWE Superstar Spectacle. She wrestled twice at the show after Becky Lynch was unable to travel to India due to travel issues.
Additionally, Sapp wrote that sources expressed hope that Lynch’s “open challenge” will continue, but that is not guarantee.
