The first two matches of the NXT Global Heritage Invitational are in the books.
During the August 29 episode of WWE NXT, Charlie Dempsey went one-on-one with SmackDown’s Butch in the first match of the Global Heritage Invitational. In the end, Butch scored the pinfall win via Bitter End to score his first two points in Group A.
Later in the night, Joe Coffey pinned Nathan Frazer following a spinning clothesline to win his first two points in Group B.
Butch’s match marked his return to NXT for the first time since October 2022, when he and Butch faced Pretty Deadly.
The tournament’s eight competitors will participate in round-robin-style matches until the field is narrowed down to the winners of Group A and Group B. The group winners will then face each other to determine who will challenge Noam Dar for the NXT Heritage Cup Championship at NXT No Mercy on September 30.
