Santos Escobar offers an update on Rey Mysterio‘s previous injury.
On the July 28 episode of WWE SmackDown, Escobar faced Rey Mysteiro in the finals of the United States Championship Invitational. The match was stopped when Mysterio suffered an apparent injury, which was reportedly legitimate. Mysterio returned on the August 11 episode of WWE SmackDown and defeated Austin Theory to win the WWE United States Championship.
In an interview with Steve Fall on Ten Count, Escobar was asked whether plans changed on the fly due to the injury. He noted that the show proceeded as planned. Escobar also stated that Mysterio suffered a mild concussion.
“The show that you got was the show that it was going to be,” Santos Escobar said. “I believe that it is important to present a good show, and I believe that was the case that night. Rey and I went hard at it. That’s what we agreed upon.
“We have a very long relationship. We have a bond, and when you have that, you go hard. That’s what happens when you go hard. I’m just glad that he had a small, mild concussion, but he came back hard, and then you know what happened a couple weeks after the fact.
