Hikaru Shida is a Potterhead for a great reason.
Denise Salcedo recently spoke with AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida, who revealed how the Harry Potter film franchise is important to her. When asked what her all-time favorite movie was, Shida picked Harry Potter.
Shida said the series actually taught her how to speak English. She noted how there was a bit of a learning curve (and some unintended results).
“Harry Potter. Actually, I learned English from Harry Potter. Yeah, so I think I watched the Harry Potter movies like a hundred or two hundred times. [I read the books too]. Yeah, I learned English from Harry Potter. First, it’s so hard because [American and British English] is so different,” Hikaru Shida said. “It’s so hard to understand what they are saying. I hear the British accent to learn English, so I felt [worried]. ‘Oh shit, I don’t understand the U.S. English…’
“Some people have asked me why [I] have a British accent, [it’s] because I learned from Harry Potter,” she added. “That’s one of the reasons I’m so excited to go to London [for AEW All In].”
Hikaru Shida is set to defend her championship in a four-way match at All In on August 27.
