Samoa Joe can see both sides of the coin when it comes to having a licensed song in professional wrestling.
Ring of Honor World Television Champion Samoa Joe spoke with* WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. Joe was asked if there is a licensed song he’d like to see used for himself or another wrestler. Samoa Joe said that while licensed theme songs are cool, he thinks you also lose a part of your identity in the process.
“It’s tough, man. I think, obviously, having music that people are familiar with, especially as an entrance, is tremendously effective. It’s fun,” Samoa Joe said. “People like to see it. I’ve always kind of felt, though, at the same time too, that you kind of lose a little bit of your own identity.
“You lose it a little bit to the music. I’m a bit of a bigger fan of themes for guys as opposed to commercial music being used. I think just for that aspect. It’s really cool, and I think it’d bring a great reaction out of a crowd, but maybe not necessarily for me. It focuses on the right things.”
