Eric Young: Getting ‘Killed’ In IMPACT Wrestling Is Open To Interpretation

An old slasher movie trope might be the key to Eric Young’s on-air return to IMPACT Wrestling.

Eric Young finally returned to IMPACT Wrestling at Slammiversary. The last time fans saw Eric Young before that, he was ‘murdered’ by Deaner. The ‘murder’ is not fully shown, so it left a potential loophole for his return. Because of that, Eric Young believes what happened to his character is open to interpretation.

“I was ‘killed’ on the show nine months ago,” he told Denise Salcedo. “It is amazing, but was I killed? You know, the truth is, it was open for interpretation. The interpretation for [most] of the people is that I was killed, but you don’t see it. There isn’t a funeral. You don’t see my body, and so it really is masterclass storytelling. The truth is that leaves it very wide open for interpretation. There is no direction we can’t go when it’s left open for interpretation.”

Joe Doering

Eric Young says he can go in any direction with his character now. His appearance with Scott D’Amore was a one-off, singular moment. Young will raffle off the ring gear he wore during his return on IMPACT Wrestling’s eBay account. The proceeds generated will go to help Joe Doering in his fight against cancer.

“Showing up in Team Canada [gear], it is a very singular thing. It was a one-off,” said Young. “That Team Canada gear, the jacket, for gear collectors — I know there are tons of guys out there that collect things and love memorabilia. That jacket is an original Steve & Barry’s Team Canada jacket. The new gear will be [auctioned] on IMPACT Wrestling’s eBay.

“All the proceeds will go to Joe Doering and his family. He’s got a long road ahead of him, and I know that there’s a GoFundMe for him. If you can, donate, and if you’re a collector and you want something, I’m never wearing it again,” Young said. “It’s one-of-a-kind custom-made. If you’re a collector, please buy it. Please donate to Joe. That’s what we’re doing with that stuff.”
