Shawn Michaels is very happy working backstage with the young and upcoming talents of WWE NXT.
WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels recently sat down with Riju Dasgupta of Sportskeeda to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked if he has any itch to step back into the ring and have one last match, Michaels said he has no interest in returning to the ring and enjoys working backstage helping out the next generation of talent.
“No, I absolutely don’t think about that at all anymore,” Shawn Michaels admitted. “I mean, I’m so enamored and enjoy helping these young men and women who come through NXT. I’ve had my time in the sun. I absolutely enjoyed every bit of it, but I so thoroughly enjoy being able to help them and look allow them to have the same opportunities that I had.
“I was very happy to be able to work with Finn Balor here and his second run in NXT because I certainly missed out on it the first time. I happen to have a great deal of respect and admiration for Finn and everything he’s brought to NXT, but again, now this is about the generation of a Bron Breakker, Julius and Brutus Creed, Tiffany Stratton, we have a number of young men and women that are coming through NXT that are going to be huge, huge superstars on the main roster.
“I don’t think anybody is going to be surprised if they see Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes headlining WrestleMania someday in the very near future. So that’s what I’m obviously focused on.”
