Former NXT Champion Adam Cole sent a kind message to reigning champion Carmelo Hayes.
Hayes responded to a tweet that noted that he and Cole were the only two stars to appear on all three WWE brands (RAW, SmackDown, and NXT) in the same month. The tweet noted Cole basically passed the torch to Hayes before he left WWE and signed with AEW. Hayes wrote that he’s grateful, and Cole is the man.
Hayes faced Cole in his second match in NXT back on June 22, 2021, and he delivered a breakout performance.
Cole replied to Hayes’ tweet and wrote that he is the man. He told the champion to keep killing it.
Hayes and Cole are both featured in their respective companies, as the NXT Champion, Hayes is the face of NXT. Most recently, he defeated Baron Corbin on the June 27 episode of NXT to retain the title. Meanwhile, Cole has been paired up with AEW World Champion MJF in the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament, and they will compete on the July 5 episode of AEW Dynamite.
