D-Von Dudley Comments On The Possibility Of A Dudley Boyz Reunion

D-Von Dudley provides a glimmer of hope for a reunion between The Dudley Boyz.

The Dudley Boyz (D-Von and Bubba Ray) remain one of the most popular, and decorated, tag team champions of all-time. And while they haven’t teamed together since 2016, wrestling fans are yearning for them to reunite. Bubba Ray recently addressed the possibility, noting his concern for D-Von’s health. Due to D-Von’s physical condition, Bubba doesn’t believe they’ll ever share a ring together again.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, D-Von said he’s feeling great, but is taking things slow after undergoing back surgery. As such, he also gave his thoughts on the possible return of the Dudley Boyz.

“I spoke to Bubba about [a possible reunion.] Again, I just told him, like I started to say earlier about KISS being the greatest hits, all we got to do is hit the greatest hits. He said, ‘Yeah, you know, minus the Wassup. We have to re-modify that but 3D, the belly-to-back neck breaker, even somewhat LOD coming off the top rope when we clothesline him, because again a lot of times I landed on my stomach flat first. But then there was other times I went legs first, then roll. I like to call it the Hacksaw Jim Duggan- Nikolai Volkoff bump. You go to your feet, your knees, your hips and then go to your back. I can do stuff like that, I’m not opposed to it,” D-Von said.

Regarding his health, D-Von received medical clearance to roll around in a wrestling ring again. Upon being cleared, D-Von began hitting the ropes at his wrestling school — D-Von Dudley Academy (DDA). As his doctor advised him not to take huge bumps, D-Von noted that he’s been focusing on realigning his footwork.

Over the last few years, D-Von has suffered through some health issues, including a stroke that damaged a lot of the nerves on the left side of his body. About eight months later, D-Von underwent back surgery to fuse the discs in his lower lumbar.

“It was like one after the other. It just didn’t stop,” D-Von recalled. “Now it’s like, okay, I start to heal from this stroke, and then all of a sudden now the back surgery starts, I’m like, ‘Oh my God.’ It’s like starting all over again. So, now I’m starting to feel good in the legs where I can walk for at least a good five minutes without having to sit down, things like that. I was waiting for the nerves to start firing back up in the lower lumbar and the legs and the back and stuff before I even try to do anything in the ring. And now that they seem to be coming back, I’m actually okay.”

If D-Von were to return, he doesn’t intend to go “crazy or ECW style.” He’ll do what he can to entertain the fans to the fullest, but at the end of the day, his wants to preserve his health. “I’m at the wrestling school, I’m rolling around again. I’m not doing this to say, ‘Hey, I’m making a comeback.’ I’m doing it for me, I’m doing it to get my body strong again. And that’s what I’m doing. So is there a glimpse of hope? Yes, there could be. I mean, I’m not saying no, but yes, there can be. But I got to also say there’s a possibility that it won’t happen again.”
